“The Last U-Boat” opens in 1943 along the shore of Lake Erie where a young Gunther Kraus is working with a group of Nazis scheming to wage a surprise attack on America. If you think such an attack could never have happened, think again, the Nazi Operation Pastorius existed.
The Discovery
Author Jack O’Brien has woven a plot around historical facts of World War Two and delivered a thrilling story right to America’s doorstep. In 2023, Charlie LeClair, at about the same age Gunther Kraus was in 1943, discovered a sunken U-Boat in his backyard along the shore of Lake Erie. Charlie gathers his daring spirit and some like-minded friends to raise the sub, with no idea what would come up with it.
